Media on local issues

All our non beach leash free areas for dogs from Rye to Portsea are sporting grounds.  The prospect of losing all these popular leash free areas received a lot of media attention, resulting in a change of heart from the Shire.​

There were significant increases of fees for pets in the 2023/24 Shire budget.​

Instead of just removing the abandoned boats on the foreshore, boats other than tenders have now been banned.  There was no consultation with those impacted, or opportunity to explore workable solutions.​​​

The Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron top car park redevelopment which was going to result in the loss of at least 13 car parks.  Plans were revised and there was a second round of consultation.  This was the local foreshore committee, not the Shire.​
